Phantasy Star Online 2 for PS Vita gets a new trailer and opening movie

The opening video and special trailer for the PS Vita version of Sega's successful MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2 have made their way online.

Due February 28th in Japan, this portable version will have complete cross platform play with the PC version of the game, as well as the addition of Sony Japan mascots Toro and Kuro.

Sega has yet to share plans for a western release, but rest assured at least the PC version has been confirmed to be coming some time in 2013.

The PlayStation Vita version of Phantasy Star Online 2 now has a date.

Scheduled to launch in Japan on February 28, 2013, the handheld version of the MMO will be free to download through PSN. A separate Special Package edition will be available at retail and will include two costume sets, three weapon packs, a Mag evolution device, stickers, a 30 day premium set, soundtrack CD and a FUN1000 acquisition ticket. All of this can be had for 5,229 yen.

Phantasy Star Online 2 passes 700,000 registered players

Sega's got a fairly large success on their hands if recent Phantasy Star Online 2 numbers are anything to go by.

The company revealed today that PSO2 has topped 730,000 registered user IDs, just three weeks after launch. Since going live on July 4th, the service reached a peak user count of 91,513 simultaneous players on July 7th.
